ConnectFamilias/Little Havana Community Partnership is a collaborative of partners representing a wide array of key stakeholders. Build on the premise that children do better when their families are strong, and families do better when they live in places that help them succeed as parents and productive citizens. The Partnership is working to improve the Little Havana Community in order to have healthier children and families, and a safe and strong community. The Partnership was established with funding from the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Today, The Partnership is funded through grants provided by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and The Children's Trust. The Children's Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County. In 2004 The Partnership asked Dade Community Foundation act as the Partnership's Administrative Service Organization and steward its grant funds to avoid selecting a single community group to receive the funds and thereby promoting true collaboration. As a result of our shared decision making and community planning we are creating a seamless system of care for Little Havana that promotes family and community safety by helping families manage their external environment, building neighbors’ capacity to take on formal and informal leadership roles in their community and address the needs of children, youth and their families to improve neighborhood safety. A renewed community spirit has emerged because of the Partnership's work and its efforts continue to grow. Through collaboration, the Partnership is transforming the way social services and communities do business at the neighborhood and systems level. Some of the ways the Partnership is changing the way services are provided to families is through the Service Provider Network, an integrated network of service providers and Community Health Workers/Natural Helpers that ensure that families have services that work for them and are connected to formal and informal supports within their neighborhood. A new resident led community association has emerged because of resident leadership training and is exploring how they may best serve as a catalyst for community change in their neighborhood. The association with the support of technical assistance provided by the partnership is exploring how through civic participation they may develop resident led community projects. The Partnership is also working closely with the City of Miami, City of Miami Police Department, Miami-Dade County and Miami-Dade Public Schools in order to coordinate and leverage existing community resources to improve the lives of all children and families in Little Havana For more Information contact us at: info@lhcponline.org |
